Kinja'd!!!

Hey, all! I'm back with an update on the current status of the livery tribute. Put a lot of work into last night. Ended up getting distracted and didn't get off until 4am, had to be up in the morning for work. Don't judge me. But I'm pretty sure I'm nearing the completion of the design, but I'm not entirely sure if something is missing or needs changed.

I've left the center stripe alone, but the sides were modified. AdrianW had a similar idea as I did, with changing the radius of the first curve to follow the body lines better. I believe that was a great improvement. The lines also follow the rear wheel well and connect around the backside. I also experimented a little with blue wheels, as Vdynamo suggested. I wasn't a fan, so that was scrapped. The top of the lines about the rear wheels may look a bit odd. The editor isn't nearly perfect, so I did what I could.

As always, let me know what you think. Is there anything I should add, change, scrap? Anything goes.

To Be Changed/Fixed: After looking at it again, I noticed the weird imperfection below the outside taillights. I'll have to go back in and fix that.

Instead of just having it wrapping around the back, maybe there's a more graceful way to end it in the back...?

I'm thinking maybe something like Jeff Koons' M3 artcar for inspiration possibly - though not necessarily as dramatic.

It very well may be asking too much though XD

Nice work regardless!

Are you thinking, like, different length on the lines, with white space in the middle? I'm trying to get a better idea on what you're thinking so I can test it out.

And thanks!

Yes, exactly. I don't think it's a bad thing to have a lot of white space in the middle of the back - it's got a sexy butt and besides, there's a nice Union Jack back there that takes up some of the whitespace :)

Looking back on my comment, I guess I was a little vague but luckily you caught my drift.

The reason I included the Koons M3 artcar was because that's what your livery reminded me of. Obviously yours is less dramatic and more focused on smaller areas, but in terms of showing natural movement along the lines of the car, it definitely has a resemblance (and I'm sure there are many other liveries that work similarly as well).

When we're talking natural movement along the side of a car, it just seems to me like it would go on beyond the end of the car - but this means it would end at some point on the car. Take a look at the two pictures below to see what is in my mind right now and what I see in your design.

Without pulling a Jeff Koons - which would be far overkill (but incredibly ba-dass) - and ending the movement/swooping lines in an explosion, I think a simpler and more practical way would be to end them with a fade to transparency. Now of course this is all just my opinion which is no better than yours, but what I would try to do is end the fade at the outside edge of the outside taillights to see how that looks.

Y'know - I tried explaining in words but I was just like f*ck it - I'm already up later than I intended, might as well try to explain it visually so it makes more sense that way. Only thing is it might be better to fade them into transparency a little sooner - before the stripes start going parallel with the rear end. Forgive me as I lack the venerable Photoshop, but I did my best rough work :P

The last picture explains what I was talking about. You mentioned about the significant whitespace on the back so I tried to throw some color back there... the taillight circles I tried out and didn't care for them but left em just so you could see. What I really do like is the simple brake light outline of the roof stripes which I think is a perfect touch of color back there without going too overboard or too boring white. I think it works great with the fact that the top stripes just end at the roof and they make a sudden brief reappearance on the rear.

I like this one better then the one you did before. I would just change the horizontal lines in the back, looks like a boat. Make them go down before or under the tail-lights.
